According to Omdia, the global semiconductor market experienced a deceleration in the first quarter of 2022 after five consecutive quarters of revenue growth, with the overall market size down 0.03% from the fourth quarter of last year.
Omdia analyst Cliff Leimbach said that the first quarter was the off-season for the semiconductor market, with an average quarter-on-quarter decline of 4.4% in the past. Therefore, despite the slight month-on-month decline, revenue in the first quarter of this year is still at a historically high level.
In terms of product categories, CMOS sensors saw the biggest decline, down 16% quarter-on-quarter. From the perspective of manufacturers, the biggest decline was Intel, which was ranked second, with a decline of -10.8%.
