Infineon Technologies AG recently announced commercial availability of the industry’s highest density serial F-RAMs, the company’s new 8- and 16-Mbit EXCELON™ F-RAM memories. The 8- and 16-Mbit EXCELON F-RAM (Ferroelectric RAM) memories address the non-volatile data-logging requirements of next-generation automotive and industrial systems to help prevent data loss in harsh operating environments. The new memories feature a wide voltage operation from 1.71 V to 3.6 V, support up to 54-MBps of data throughput over a low-pin count interface, and are available in a RoHS-compliant, 24-ball FBGA package.
“With the increase of automation and the rapid growth of connected sensors, datalogging requirements are driving the need for higher density memories that capture data reliably and instantly in the event of a power loss,” said Ramesh Chettuvetty, who heads the RAM product line at Infineon’s Automotive Division. “Our new EXCELON F-RAM products offer superior performance and reliability for mission-critical data capture, without sacrificing ultra-low power operation, making them ideal for factory automation solutions and automotive event data recorders.”
Infineon’s EXCELON F-RAM is the next generation of Ferroelectric RAM memory. These new products deliver the industry’s lowest power, mission-critical non-volatile memory by combining ultra-low-power operation with high-speed interfaces, instant nonvolatility and unlimited read/write cycle endurance. The read and write performance of these serial memories are equivalent to parallel-interface, battery-backed Static RAMs with 35-ns access time. The fast write speeds, superior endurance and industry-leading energy efficiency make EXCELON F-RAM the data logging memory of choice in automotive, industrial and medical applications.
