May 30, 2024 /SemiMedia/ -- According to a report by TECHCET, global total semiconductor revenue is expected to grow by nearly 12% to $610 billion in 2024. Revenue in 2024 will be more than $40 billion less than in 2021. Looking ahead, 2025 is expected to be a year of strong growth, with a growth rate of 27%, breaking the previous revenue record.
The report noted that semiconductor material revenues grew, albeit slowly, in the first quarter of 2023. Material suppliers reported that sales of leading-edge logic chips and memory chips were improving in addition to wafer manufacturing. Excess inventory held by chipmakers was still being consumed in the first quarter, and shipment growth in the wafer market lagged behind other material areas.
Chip revenue was largely impacted by memory ASPs and improved fab utilization in both the memory and logic segments. Leading foundry ASPs and HBM sell-outs also contributed to growth this year.
