September 26, 2024 /SemiMedia/ — Nvidia’s flagship RTX 4090 GPU is seeing significant price increases in Europe, with stock levels depleting rapidly, according to recent supply chain reports. While Nvidia’s Ada Lovelace series GPUs are generally well-stocked across most regions, the RTX 4090 is becoming scarce, particularly in Europe.
Reports from Germany indicate that many retailers are selling the RTX 4090 above its manufacturer’s suggested retail price (MSRP). Over the past year, the GPU has experienced a 25% price increase. Last August, the RTX 4090 was priced between €1,590 and €1,670, but by November, prices had surged to between €1,950 and €2,100. While prices have since dropped slightly, they still remain elevated, now ranging between €1,750 and €1,900. Some retailers, such as Caseking and Mindfactory, have listed the RTX 4090 for as much as €2,304 and €2,668, reflecting significant price hikes.
Despite reports of stable stock levels, the RTX 4090 is expected to become harder to find soon. Rumors suggest that Nvidia is preparing to halt production of both the RTX 4090 and the RTX 4090D, as it gets ready to launch its next-generation Blackwell GPUs. The upcoming RTX 50 series, featuring the RTX 5090 and RTX 5090D, is expected to replace the current flagship models. Notably, the RTX 5090D will be tailored for the Chinese market.
Leaked information suggests that Nvidia has completed the final designs for its high-end RTX 50 series GPUs, including the RTX 5090 and RTX 5080, both of which are rumored to consume more power than their predecessors. While the RTX 4090 remains the fastest gaming GPU currently available, it is likely to be phased out as the RTX 50 series launches towards the end of 2024 or early 2025, offering enthusiasts a superior option.
