Recently, Silicon Labs announced two new executive appointments: Daniel Cooley was appointed as Senior Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer. In this new position, Daniel will focus on Silicon Labs' overall growth strategy, business development, new technology. and emerging markets; Matt Johnson, a semiconductor veteran with more than 15 years of industry experience, appointed as senior vice president and general manager of IoT products. Both executives will report directly to CEO Tyson Tuttle.
According to reports, Daniel joined Silicon Labs in 2005 as a chip design engineer developing broadcast audio products and short-range wireless devices. Over the years, he has held various senior management, engineering and product management positions at offices in Shenzhen, Singapore, Oslo, Norway and Austin, USA. For the past four years, Daniel has been leading the IoT business of Silicon Labs. Under his leadership, Silicon Labs built a portfolio of industry-leading secure connectivity solutions. The new Chief Strategy Officer position will leverage Daniel's talent in strategy and business development.
Matt takes over the leadership of Silicon Labs' IoT business, including developing the company's diverse portfolio of wireless products, microcontrollers, sensors, development tools and wireless software. He will bring his insights into the analog, MCU and embedded software businesses to Silicon Labs. Prior to that, he served as Senior Vice President and General Manager of Automotive Processing Products and Software Development at NXP Semiconductors/Freescale, and Senior Vice President and General Manager of Mobile Solutions at Fairchild Semiconductor.
