On October 18th, the Silan 12-inch specialty process chip production line and advanced compound semiconductor production line jointly invested by Silan Electronics and Xiamen Semiconductor Investment Group were officially started.
In December 2017, Silan Electronics and Xiamen Semiconductor Investment Group signed an agreement to jointly invest approximately 3.18 billion US dollars in the planning and construction of two 12-inch 90-65nm specialty process chip production lines and a 4-6-inch compatible advanced compound semiconductor device production line in Xiamen, China.
Two of the 12-inch specialty technology chip production lines have a total investment of 2.457 billion US dollars. The first line total investment is 1 billion US dollars, the process line width is 90 nm, and the planned production capacity is 80,000 pieces/month, which is implemented in two phases. The second chip production line is expected to have a total investment of 1.457 billion US dollars. The product line is positioned as a power semiconductor chip and a MEMS sensor. The first phase is expected to complete the construction and equipment installation and commissioning in 2020, the trial production will be in 2021, mass production in 2022. The second phase of the project will start around 2022 and mass production in 2024.
Another 4-6-inch compatible advanced compound semiconductor device production line has a total investment of 723 million US dollars, with an annual output of 13.92 million. The project will be implemented in two phases, with a production capacity of 5.4 million pieces/year in the first phase and 8.52 million pieces/year in the second phase. The product line is positioned as a third-generation power semiconductor; optical communication device; high-end LED chip. The first phase of the project is expected to complete the construction and equipment installation and commissioning in the first quarter of 2019. Production will begin in 2019 and mass production in 2021; the second phase of the project will be launched in 2021 and mass production in 2024.
