AVX has introduced a series of ultra-small thin film transmission line capacitors for high frequency links. These new capacitors have a variety of capacitance values: 0.3-50pF with a tolerance of ±20%. Each capacitor is fabricated using a high frequency structure simulator (HFSS). It can proactively address any electromagnetic challenge and provide the highest RF performance and reliability of capacitor products.
The new transmission line capacitors are available in three standard substrate thicknesses: 5, 10 and 15 mils (0.005, 0.01, 0.015") and two standard substrate widths: 20 and 40 mils (0.02-0.04"). The average length is usually in the range of 20-80 mils (0.02-0.08 inches).
The series is rated up to 100V, with a specific capacitance range of 50-100pF / mm2, a loss factor of less than 0.1%, a TCC of ±60ppm /ºC and a standard impedance of 50Ω. In addition, custom impedance values, substrate material and substrate thickness are available upon request.
The new transmission line capacitors are also RoHS compliant and tested for bond strength by MIL-STD-883-2011.8, MIL-STD-883-2018 for shear strength, and MIL-STD-202-108 for test life.
"Our new thin film transmission line capacitors are developed using ultra-precision HFSS design to optimize circuit conductivity and RF performance. Provide a wide range of capacitance values and a variety of customizable features, including impedance values and substrate materials and thickness, and also have gold wire Soldering and RoHS compliant, it can be used in a variety of high performance microwave and RF applications," said Larry Eisenberger, chief technology marketing engineer at AVX.
