According to media reports, SK hynix has developed a one-terabit (Tb) quadruple level cell (QLC) flash memory chip based on 96-layer 4D NAND technology, which has a larger data storage capacity.
SK hynix announced on May 9 that it has supplied samples of new products to solid state drive (SSD) controller manufacturer Silicon Motion. The product can be defined as a combination of existing 96-layer charge trap flash (CTF) 4D NAND and the company's QLC technology.
Silicon Motion is a Taiwanese company that develops and markets SSD controllers and NAND storage devices. Silicon Motion CEO Wallace Kou said that SK hynix's engineering samples fully meet the consumer's reliability and performance requirements for SSDs.
At present, SK hynix is planning to develop QLC software algorithms and controllers based on new products to launch solution products as soon as possible.
