ZED-F9K is the latest product based on the F9 positioning technology platform introduced by U-blox. The chip combines a new generation of GNSS receiver technology, signal processing algorithms and calibration service services, and u-blox says that using the new GNSS correction service to compensate for the ionosphere and other errors can improve positioning accuracy. At the same time, the chip is a holistic solution because its built-in algorithm combines IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) data, wheel speed pulses, vehicle dynamics models, etc.
What can the ZED-F9K do for smart driving? The first is the ability to simultaneously use four GNSS constellations to increase the accuracy to decimeters (up to 20 cm) in a matter of seconds. Second is the lower latency. According to Alex Ngi, U-blox inertial navigation product manager, the delay of the ZED-F9K is 10ms, and the delay of the entire system is controlled at 100-150ms. The built-in IMU continuously provides precise positioning of the vehicle in the event of a satellite signal being blocked or completely lost, such as when the car is driving in a tunnel or underground garage.
