Recently, Topology Research Institute released the revenue and ranking of the world's top ten IC design companies in the first quarter of 2019. Among the top five, MediaTek maintained a small growth, while Broadcom, Qualcomm, NVIDIA and AMD all experienced recession, of which NVIDIA experienced the largest decline due to inventory problems.
According to the data, Broadcom's first quarter revenue was 4.183 billion US dollars, although it was down 10.5% compared with the same period of last year, but still ranked first in the world; Qualcomm's first quarter revenue was $3.722 billion, down 4.5% year-on-year, making it the world's second largest IC design company; NVIDIA's first quarter revenue was $2.11 billion, down 24.4% year-on-year, ranking third; MediaTek's first quarter revenue was 1.71 billion US dollars, an annual increase of 1%, ranking fourth; AMD's first quarter revenue was $1.272 billion, down 22.8% year-on-year, ranking fifth.
Topology Research Institute analysts pointed out that although the world's major IC design companies performed well in 2018, due to the impact of the trade war and the slowdown in the growth of the Chinese market, the global market in 2019 was quite conservative. IC design companies did not perform as expected in the first quarter of 2019.
