Topology Research Institute announced the world's top 10 IC design companies in the second quarter of revenue rankings, according to rankings, Broadcom ranked first with $4.375 billion, and the second to fifth were Qualcomm, NVIDIA, MediaTek and AMD.
According to Topology Research, the demand for global consumer electronics such as smartphones, tablets, notebooks, LCD monitors, TVs and servers is lower than expected due to trade wars between China and the United States.
According to senior analysts, Broadcom and Qualcomm's major markets are all in mainland China. Due to the impact of trade wars, customers' demand for components was weak, resulting in a decline in revenue in the second quarter compared to the same period last year.
Regarding NVIDIA, although its automotive and professional vision applications are still growing, it has been in decline for three consecutive quarters due to the sharp decline in game graphics and data center products. However, NVIDIA's second-quarter recession has stabilized slightly from the first quarter, coupled with an effective reduction in inventory, the third quarter revenue decline is expected to continue to shrink.
MediaTek's second quarter revenue was NT$61.657 billion, an increase of 1.8% year-on-year. The gross profit margin continued to rise. However, due to the exchange rate, its revenue declined by 2.7% compared with the same period last year. AMD's performance in the processor and data center is excellent, but due to sluggish sales of GPU products and blockchain products, the quarterly revenue year is down 12.8%.
Looking forward to the third quarter, analysts said that because the trade war between China and the United States continues, even if the traditional peak season of the semiconductor market is coming, it is difficult to see the industry prospects. Whether the industry can maintain its growth performance depends mainly on whether the sales strategies of each company can spread the market risk.
