According to the latest report released by IC Insights, the total sales of the top 10 semiconductor manufacturers in the first half of 2020 increased by 17% year-on-year. This growth rate is more than three times the growth rate of the global semiconductor industry during the same period.
The ranking shows that the Top 10 are Intel, Samsung, TSMC, SK Hynix, Micron, Broadcom, Qualcomm, Nvidia, Texas Instruments and HiSilicon. The top 10 includes four fabless companies (Broadcom, Qualcomm, Nvidia and HiSilicon) and a pure wafer foundry (TSMC).
It is worth noting that, compared with the same period last year, all the top ten companies had sales of more than $5 billion.
Among them, HiSilicon’s sales in the first half of 2020 reached 5.2 billion U.S. dollars, an increase of 49% year-on-year. The company's ranking has risen by 6 places, ranking tenth, becoming the first mainland Chinese semiconductor supplier to enter the world's top 10. However, IC In-sights pointed out that HiSilicon’s time in the top 10 ranking may be short-lived.
In addition, TSMC’s revenue in the first half of 2020 increased by 40% year-on-year, and this increase was due to a surge in chip orders from Apple and HiSilicon.
